Hawaii’s oldest island is aging beautifully and has been the setting for film classics such as “South Pacific.” On this small island, you’ll find the Grand Canyon of the Pacific at Waimea, a lush Fern Grotto up the Wailua River, picturesque waterfalls beyond Hanalei Plantation and a giant sleeping on a volcanic mountain ridge. The pace of life is gentler here, like a water-color come to life. Violet hues along Na Pali coast contract with double rainbows over sugar cane fields. Forty shades of green grow along the inner slopes of Waialeale. Amber rays of sun turn blue green bays into liquid silver and gold. Ease into Kaua’i and you’ll never forget her.
